Documentary Siza celebrates one year of existence with an award-winning trajectory in more than 20 countries

The documentary "Siza", an original production by the Gallery and directed by Augusto Custódio,
approaches the end of its global journey through the main architecture and film festivals
in the world, celebrating one year of existence since its remarkable debut.
With its first exhibition taking place on the renowned architect's 90th birthday,
Álvaro Siza, at the Casa da Arquitectura in Portugal, on June 25, 2023, the premiere of the documentary was a unique event, attended by approximately 500 spectators, including the Pritzker winner, Eduardo Souto Moura, and representatives of Portuguese government.

Television speeches by the President and Prime Minister of Portugal during the event
added meaning to the occasion, emphasizing the impact of Álvaro Siza's contributions to Portuguese architecture and cultural heritage. His Excellency President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa highlighted the importance of the documentary "Siza" and recognized the role of the Gallery's production platform in preserving and promoting Álvaro's legacy.
Another significant milestone in the documentary's trajectory was its screening in Brazil, "Siza Exclusive Sessions at the MASP", bringing together hundreds of people in the auditorium of the largest art institution in Latin America. Distinct professionals from Brazilian architecture, design and art were present, enriching the event with their participation.

The documentary "Siza" also gained notoriety for its association with important art and cultural institutions around the world, in addition to its collaboration with cultural actions. The choice of the documentary to open the Festival of Cultures stands out
Ibero-Americans, in Stockholm, celebrating the richness of Ibero-American culture and its intersections with urban landscapes.
Throughout its festival journey, "Siza" has been present in more than 20 countries, participating in renowned events such as The Norwegian International Film Festival, Lemesos Int'l Documentary Festival, ARK REX Architecture and Film Festival and Architecture & Design Film New Zealand Festival. The documentary was awarded and recognized at two of the biggest festivals in the segment: AFFR 2023 - Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam and the Milano Design Film Festival in March this year.

The documentary "Siza" continues to captivate audiences around the world, celebrating not only Álvaro Siza's architectural genius, but also his lasting influence and cultural legacy.
